HE'S STAYING! - Rob Mitchell confirmed as manager

Halifax FC Women are pleased to announce the appointment of Rob Mitchell as the Club’s first ever full-time Manager ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Having previously notified the club of his intention to step down at the end of the season we are delighted to confirm that Rob has decided to stay on as Manager after agreeing a full-time contract.

This represents a huge moment in the history of the Club and confirms the backing of the Club’s owners and board of Directors ahead of a huge season on and off the pitch.

Attention now turns to building a competitive team on the pitch with several exciting announcements to come over the next week so make sure to keep an eye out on our website and social media for all the latest news!

We caught a few words from Rob on his decision to stay on and what it means to him:

“I’m delighted to be staying at the club I’ve called home for the last 12 years. I’m extremely proud to be the first ever full time manager and I appreciate the trust and support I’ve had from the owners & board of directors.

Everything has happened so quickly but sometimes in life, things just seem to work out in a way you never imagined.

The new role will allow me to dedicate my time and energy to the first team as well as overseeing the youth teams and developing the players of the future, something I’m really passionate about.

A huge thanks to everyone who has supported me and my family over the last decade, as well as the many players, staff, supporters and volunteers who have contributed along the way.

It’s an exciting period for the club after such adversity, challenges and set-backs, but we will use those experiences to develop and grow both on and off the pitch.

Now is the time to ensure we return to being competitive in the league whilst laying the foundations for future success and progression across the whole club. Recruitment and retention are key as we aim to build a team with more experienced players whilst continuing to provide a platform for our younger players to thrive in a positive, challenging and progressive environment.

Finally, I’d once again like to express my gratitude and appreciation for having the opportunity to lead this unbelievable club into what will be a new era of women’s & girls football in Calderdale and beyond!”

Rob Mitchell.

Stay tuned next week as we sit down with Rob to discuss his plans for next season and an important summer of recruitment.
