We are excited to announce the signing of Meg Shaw who joins us after spending the 24/25 season at fellow tier 3 side Rugby Borough.
The exciting wide player made 25 appearances last time out including the game against Halifax on the opening day of the season and has now joined up with Rob Mitchell’s new look side ahead of the start of the season.
The 20 year old started her career at Leicester City up to the age of 16 before joining Aston Villa. She then made the move to Rugby Borough in the summer of 2024.
We spoke with Meg to get to know our new signing:
Congratulations on the move, how does it feel to link up with Halifax for this season?
“Really happy to have made the move to Halifax. I’m looking forward to meeting all the girls and being part of this group with a clear vision also to work with Rob and the rest of the staff.”
What are your aims for this season both personally and for the team?
“Personally I’m looking to just keep developing and improving on performances, contributing as much as I can towards results this year.”
“For the teams aims, I think pushing as high as we can and competing in the league and going on some good cup runs.”
Can you tell us a bit about your footballing journey up to now?
“I was at Leicester until I was 16 and then Aston Villa, making my debut for the first team and England youth age groups along the way before transitioning to senior football with Rugby Borough.”
What will you bring to the team?
“I think I’m quite an attacking forward thinking player looking to get up and down the pitch with pace.”
Manager Rob Mitchell is happy to get this deal over the line:
“I’m really excited to get the opportunity to work with Meg this season, she’s an incredible footballer with blistering pace which will help us at both ends of the pitch!”
“Meg is another superb addition both on and off the pitch, she’s such a nice person and a real energiser, her experience of tier 3 with Rugby Borough will be a real benefit, she’s got a great pedigree having previously played with Leicester and Aston Villa as well as England at youth level.”
“A huge welcome to Meg, she’s definitely one to watch!!”
