ellie checks in!

We are pleased to announce the signing of versatile midfielder Ellie Dobson who links up with Rob Mitchell for the second time in her career.

Having previously made 23 appearances and scoring 7 goals across the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons in our Brighouse Town days, Ellie made the move to the North East playing for Middlesbrough and then Newcastle United before returning to West Yorkshire by signing for Leeds United. Ellie would go on to make 45 appearances for Leeds across the last two seasons before sealing her move to Halifax.

Ellie is now the latest recruit to Rob Mitchell’s team as the clock ticks down to the start of the new season.

Manager Rob Mitchell had this to say about his latest signing:

“I’m delighted to get the opportunity to work with Ellie again! She’s a superb player and an even better person, a real energiser and someone who will really galvanise the team.”

“Ellie has been working really hard both on and off the pitch and is in incredible shape ahead of the new season, she’s got a lot of experience in tier 3 and 4 and will no doubt be a real leader and someone the team will look towards for inspiration.”

“Her ball carrying ability and aerial presence will be vital to the team and I can’t wait to see her in Halifax blue this season!”

We spoke to Ellie after completing her return:

Welcome Ellie, congratulations on the move. How did the move come about and are you excited to once again link up with Rob Mitchell?

“Rob got in touch to see what my plans were for next season and I was just in sort of a rut with football and feeling frustrated so I was excited for a change and a fresh bit of football!”

Since your previous spell with us, you’ve been at Middlesbrough,  Newcastle and most recently Leeds United. How have you developed as a player during that time?

“Newcastle was an amazing experience before they went full time and I got to experience some amazing things that I’ll remember forever! I think I’ve definitely matured as a player in this time as I’m getting a bit older now so I think my tactical knowledge and experience can really help the team at Halifax.”

How are you looking forward to playing in what will be a competitive tier 3 this season?

“I’m excited! I’ve spent quite a lot of time in tier 3 previously so I’m excited to make a return!”

Finally, what are your aims for this season both individually and for the team?

“Just to put in solid performances from myself defensively and I’d love to get a few goals this season! It’ll be a difficult season in a tough tier 3 with some big clubs but the challenge is the fun part!”

Welcome back Ellie!
