Halifax FC Women are thrilled to announce the signing of dynamic forward Holly Davenport ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Davenport, 22, joins the club following an impressive spell in Tier 5, where her performances caught the eye with her energy, power, and eye for goal. A former Manchester United academy player, Holly brings both pedigree and potential to The Shay, and becomes the latest addition to an ambitious Halifax side preparing for the challenges of Tier 3 football.
Reacting to the latest addition to his squad, Head Coach Rob Mitchell shared his excitement:
“I’m delighted to welcome Holly to the club. She’s had an immediate impact and really settled into the group. She’s got a great pedigree and bags of potential. The fact that she has been playing in Tier 5 just goes to show the level of quality in the leagues below – I can’t believe no one else has picked her up!”
“She has bags of energy, pace, and determination, and given time she’ll be able to adapt to the demands of Tier 3.”
“Another fantastic character and someone I’m really intrigued to see how she develops this season. I’ve got a lot of belief and confidence that she’ll hit the ground running and take the league by storm. As mentioned, she needs experience, time, and opportunities to show how good she can become, and I can’t wait to see her on the pitch soon!”
We caught up with Holly shortly after the signing was confirmed.
Congratulations on the move, how does it feel to link up with Halifax ahead of the start of the season?
“It feels really good to link up with Halifax. I’m really excited for the challenge and to play at a higher level which is challenging. Rob and I have spoken and he’s talked about having good people around the team and working together which is always good to have!”
You played in Tier 5 last season. Are you excited to make the step up to Tier 3 and test yourself at a higher level?
“Yes, I’m super excited. It’s good to be back at a higher level again after playing at Manchester United for 5 years. It’s also good to link back up with players who played at similar clubs and Man United!”
It’s good to be playing back at the higher level which is challenging but I enjoy a challenge and I’m ready to get going!”
How would you describe yourself as a player for those that don’t know too much about you?
“I would describe myself as a powerhouse – exciting, target man – and I enjoy being a team player!”
How are you settling into the group and what are your first thoughts on the setup at the club?
“The girls have really made me feel welcome. The girls bring good laughs and vibes. It’s an exciting group and I’m excited to get going.”
Finally, what are your aims for this season both on a personal level and for the team?
“My personal aims for the season are to enjoy the challenge, score goals, be consistent, and enjoy playing football. At Manchester United I suffered from two stress fractures in my back which put me out from playing for two years. After playing at local teams I got my love for the game back and now I’m ready to get going playing at a higher level and ready to push on.”
“My goals for the team are to be a good team player, achieve things as a team, enjoy the wins and be relentless as a team.”
Stay tuned for more player announcements and match updates as the 2025/26 campaign approaches.
Welcome to Halifax, Holly!
