fa cup match preview
halifax v Hull city 26/10/25

This weekend we hope to make a strong start in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup as the competition gets underway with our tie against Hull City.

The sides last met in the opening league game of this season, when Hull’s Tugby-Andrew scored the only goal at North Ferriby. Since then, Hull made a flying start in the league and enjoyed a cup run that earnt them a place in the FA WNL Cup First Round, with no trouble performing in front of goal. Hope Knight leads the way as the club’s top scorer in all competitions with 9 goals to her name after 10 appearances.

Chris Hames’ side currently sit mid-table, three places above Halifax in the table at eighth, with the teams separated by just three points. However, a recent dip in form has seen City fall short against league giants Burnley and Wolves, while last weekend saw them make their exit from the FA WNL Cup after losing at home to Leeds. Without a win in their last six outings, Hull will be searching for a way to end their winless streak when they face Halifax on Sunday.

Halifax head into the match looking to maintain momentum after two hard-fought draws against Loughborough Lightning and Burnley – results that helped lift them off the bottom of the table. They followed that with a solid FA WNL Plate victory on the road at Worcester City and are aiming to build on that run. There could be a few changes to the starting lineup as Rob Mitchell weighs up his options, after Mia Jacobs and Karri Chan were given opportunities in the first eleven last week. The message to his players has remained clear – he wants “everyone to be fighting to get into the team”.

Come down to Myra Shay and enjoy the FA Cup action on Sunday 26th October. Kick-off is at 2pm.
