Halifax FC Women face Stoke City on Sunday afternoon, in their latest game in the FAWNL cup. The fixture will be the Eagles’ 3rd game in the FAWNL Cup where they have found plenty of success so far. With previous wins coming against FC United of Manchester and Sporting Khalsa, where they progressed relatively easy.
Kick off at the Clayborn Stadium (Liversedge) will be at 2pm.
Halifax are heading into the game after beating Liverpool Feds 2-1 at the Clayborn Stadium, in what was a fantastic performance and a great result to maintain their unbeaten run in all competitions this season. Lucy Sowerby continued Halifax’s trend of late winners with a goal of her own in the 89th minute to claim the 3 points in dramatic fashion. Halifax will be looking to maintain this form and use it against Stoke.
Rob Mitchell’s side will be looking to continue their fantastic performances on Sunday.
Speaking ahead of the game, Mitchell said:
“I’ll go into the game and look to win it, we set out an objective to go as far as we can in the cup.”
Stoke are welcomed to Halifax on the back of a 2-2 draw away against newly promoted Stourbridge. Stoke will be looking to return to their winning form against Halifax. Stoke currently sit 7th in the league, level on points with Halifax but with a lower GD as well as Halifax having three games in hand to Stoke.
