Halifax FC Women face Stourbridge Women on Sunday afternoon, in their latest fixture of the Northern Premier Division. The fixture will be the Eagles’ first game in the league and the side will be looking to start the season off with a win. It will also be the club’s league debut as Halifax FC Women following their rebranding during the summer break.
Kick off at The Leading Edge Clayborn Stadium (Liversedge) is at 2pm as league action returns to the FAWNL Northern Premier Division.
Halifax are heading into the game after beating FC United of Manchester 1-6 in the FAWNL Cup at Broadhurst Park last weekend, where new Halifax star Georgina Stevens impressed, scoring a hattrick in brilliant style, and helping to secure an emphatic win to progress into the next round of the league cup. The Eagles will be looking to continue this winning form on Sunday.

Rob Mitchell’s side are looking to kick start their league campaign with a win and continue a run of winning form.
Speaking ahead of the game, Mitchell said:
“The players know their roles and responsibilities. The three points are the most important thing this weekend.”
A win on Sunday would certainly be very valuable to Halifax FC Women, given that it is their first league game of the season and they will want to start the season off positively. Building momentum will be very important for future games.
Newly promoted Stourbridge are welcomed to Halifax on the back of a 4-1 win against York City in the FAWNL cup. But in the league one week prior, they lost 7-0 to Nottingham who showed no mercy against Stourbridge, the Glassgirls will be looking to reverse their league form and get back on track in their quest to maintain their status in the Northern Premier Division. With Halifax hungry for the three points, and Stourbridge looking to consolidate their place in the league, we should see a very exciting match up!
