Halifax FC Women will play Wakefield AFC in the FA women’s County Cup on Sunday 19th November as the Eagles look to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat to Hull City in the FA Cup.
Halifax will play Wakefield AFC in the West riding county cup on Sunday, with the reigning champions hoping to retain their status as champions.
Rob Mitchell gave us his thoughts ahead of the game:
“I expect them to bounce back, there has been a little bit of inconsistency this season.”
“We’ve got a lot of football to play so hopefully we can get a few more positive results.”
Having won the West Riding FA Cup last season, Halifax will be looking to retain their status as champions of the County Cup. It is huge for Halifax to win silverware this season, to secure funds for the club as well as solidifying it’s position as a side to be reckoned with in the Northern Premier Division as well as he rest of the English footballing scene.
Halifax are heading into the game after suffering a 3 – 1 defeat by the hands of Hull City last weekend, knocking them out of the women’s FA Cup. The disappointed Halifax side will look to bounce back from the defeat and focus on the County Cup.
Wakefield AFC are welcomed to the Leading Edge Clayborn Stadium with confidence, having beaten Blyth Town in a staggering 0-8 win away from home. Wakefield will hope to use this win as a massive confidence booster heading into the game against Halifax.
Despite being in a lower division than Halifax, Wakefield certainly won’t be deterred from causing an upset, they will certainly be up for the fight on Sunday.
With Halifax looking to retain the County Cup trophy, and in-form Wakefield looking to cause an upset, we should see a very exciting match up!
