Halifax found themselves on the wrong side of a 3-1 defeat on Sunday afternoon, in a tough game away from home, knocking them out of the FA cup.
The first 10 minutes of the game was controlled massively by Halifax, with a shot from Ellie White who shot just over the bar. Mon Watson had another chance with a run into the penalty area, but a last ditch tackle denied her.
Despite the fast start for Halifax, Hull pushed onto the Halifax defence, forcing Katie Ramsden to make a last ditch effort to intercept a very dangerous ball.
It was Hull who struck first, through Hope Knight, who picked the ball up from outside the box and lashed the ball into the top left corner, a fantastic goal to give the home side the lead after 25 minutes.
However, Halifax answered back only six minutes later, when a dangerous ball was looped in from a free kick, finding Georgia Stevens towards the back post who slotted it in to make it 1-1 after 31 minutes.
The game was mostly even after the equaliser, with no huge chances to note.
The half time whistle blew an end to an exhilarating first half, strong performances from both teams.
Half time: Hull City 1 -1 Halifax
The second half began and Halifax were on the front foot in the early stages, with Katie Ramsden pushing forward in hopes of finding the goal to put them ahead.
Despite this early pressure, Hull City fired their way in front through Katie Thompson, after a brilliant ball from Kirstie Hunt, Thompson did the rest to put themselves in the lead in the 54th minute. 2-1.
Hull scored once again, a powerful shot from a free kick was saved by Flaherty, but Ruby Dawson was able to finish the loose ball from five yards out. Hull City well in control in the 57th minute. 3-1.
In the 79th minute, a heroic triple save by Flaherty and a goal line clearence by Kemp denied Hull a fourth goal.
Halifax went close to pulling one back through Darcie Greene, but her shot hit the crossbar and a goalmouth scramble ensued, with Hull barely holding their line.
The full time whistle blew an end to a disappointing game for Halifax, who were hoping to go far in the FA cup. However, Hull City deserved the win on the day.
