Halifax FC Women picked up another point in the FAWNL Northern Premier Division as they drew 1-1 with Liverpool Feds.

Halifax started the game positively, with Player of The Match Katie Ramsden showing great determination to chase down what seemed to be a lost ball. Applying pressure on the Feds defender, Ramsden was able to force a corner. Meg Boydell whipped the ball in, which then fell to Ramsden, whose effort was headed clear.
The game then started to open up, Feds came close to scoring when Collins darted down the right and played a great ball across goal. The subsequent shot from Cole seemed destined for the back of the net, but Becky Flaherty was there to make a brilliant save.
Feds again found joy down the right, and in the 22nd minute they found the back of the net thanks to a great finish from Cole. 1-0.
Showing their resilience as they have so often this season, Halifax quickly responded. Darcie Greene crossed the ball in from wide, her perfectly weighted cross was headed home by Willis to bring the score level. 1-1 with 25 minutes on the clock.
Minutes later, The Eagles had another opportunity. Darcie Greene found space out wide and looked to play the ball to Wilcock at the back post, who wasn’t able to convert the chance.
Just before half-time, Feds had a chance to re-take the lead. A strike by Thompson was blocked brilliantly by Fax captain Shauna Legge, meaning the sides went into the interval level.
Post match, Halifax manager Rob Mitchell said: “Second half we were tremendous, the only thing lacking from the second half performance was a goal.”
Mitchell wasn’t wrong, Halifax came out for the second half with intent, creating a range of chances which they couldn’t quite capitalise on.
Watson and Ramsden both had a go from range, with the latter forcing the feds ‘keeper into making a cracking save. Darcie Greene then broke down the right and attempted to play a ball into the box. But a last ditch interception from the Feds defence halted the attack.
Substitute Ellie White also came close to scoring, dribbling into the box, she cut inside but her shot took a deflection and went narrowly wide.
It wasn’t completely one way traffic however, Feds did create chances too but a disciplined defensive display meant the scoreline remained level as the referee blew for full time. 1-1.
After the game, Rob Mitchell said: “We worked hard, to a player they were tremendous and I can’t praise them enough for the togetherness they showed.”
