PHOEBE IS AN EAGLE!

We are excited to announce the signing of Phoebe Hollin as the defender links up with the team to boost our backline ahead of the new season!

The 21 year old arrives at the club following four years in the United States studying and playing at Temple University, prior to her move Phoebe was on the books of Manchester United from the age of 13.

Rob Mitchell is delighted to get Phoebe through the door:

“Phoebe has been in for a short period of time but it’s clear to see how much quality she has in and out of possession!”

“She’s was the standout performer for me Vs Cheadle, she showed just how vital she’ll be for us this season as she is calm and composed on the ball, full of energy and a really hard working individual.”

“Once again, we’ve been able to bring in someone who’s not just at superb player, but an excellent person too, she knows a couple of the girls in the team already which has helped her to settle straight away. I’m really looking forward to working with Phoebe and can’t wait to see how both her and the team develop this season!”

We grabbed a few words from our latest signing upon completion of the deal:

Welcome to the club Phoebe, how does it feel to become a Halifax player?

“It feels great to be a Halifax player! It sounds cliche but you dream of these opportunities as a kid so I’m super grateful that the club believe in me and are willing to give me a platform to kick on and get back playing in England.”

“The girls are great and the set up is fantastic, once I saw what the plans were for the club and after speaking with Rob about his goals for the team it was an easy decision to make!”

You’ve come from a good grounding at Manchester United, how was it coming through the academy there?

“Coming through the United academy was an absolute privilege and it’s made me the player and person I am today!”

“It was always a very competitive environment and experiencing that from a young age has helped me a lot with challenges later in my career.”

“I know a couple of the United girls are in this league too so I’m excited to see them again and compete against them for the first time.”

After Manchester United you took the decision to move to Philadelphia to attend Temple University, what was that like in terms of the experience and how did that move develop you as a player?

“Moving overseas to America to play at Temple University wasn’t an easy decision but it turned out to be the best decision I’ve ever made. The college system over there lets you train everyday and study towards a degree. I graduated in May with a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising as well as serving as a two time captain and All – Conference player which is easily my best achievement so far in my career!”

Looking ahead now to the new season, are you excited to get going with a new group of teammates and coaches?

“Looking ahead to the new season I’m super excited to be back playing in England. We have a great group of girls and staff so we have all the assets we need to be successful.”

“I’m also very excited to be back playing with Anna (Phillips). Anna and I go way back so it’s nice that we both played in America and are linking back up at Halifax for our first season back at home.”

What are your aims for the season both individually and in terms of what you think the team can achieve?

“I think my aims for the season are just to be as influential as possible both on and off the field, I think we can make a good run in the cup and just keep building on the foundations that Rob and the staff have put in place.”

“But overall the girls and I are very excited and I can tell we’re going to be a tight knit group that can achieve a lot together!”
