FAWNL Match Preview Stoke City v Halifax 04/01/26

Rob Mitchell’s takes his side to Wellbeing Park to face a Stoke City side who currently sit in fourth place in the table with 17 points from a possible 36.

Halifax go into the game full of confidence following a 2:0 win at home to Hull City in our last fixture of 2025. The victory against Hull made it back to back wins for the first time this season and they will be looking to keep that run going into the New Year.

2025 ended with Halifax sat in 9th place in the table with 11 points from their 12 games which is already an improvement on the whole of the 2024/25 season. A  win on Sunday could potentially lift Halifax up to 7th depending on the results in the other fixtures and increase the gap over the bottom two.

Stoke also go into the game on the back of two wins following their victories over Liverpool Feds and Sporting Khalsa last time out.

Sarah Richardson’s Stoke side will be looking towards Evie Priestley and Shannon Stamps to supply the threat with both players having scored five goals a piece so far this campaign.

For Halifax Eleanor Ashton will be looking to continue her fine goalscoring form after grabbing two goals in the last two games to cap a strong start to her Halifax career. Whilst in goal Maddie Crosbie will be looking for another clean sheet as she continues to impress following her arrival at the club in the summer.

Come and show your support for the players as we look to start 2026 with a win!
